Update – Proposed High School project in Ghosi, India – June 2008

Update – Proposed High School project in Ghosi, India – 17th May 2007

A plan from the local authorities of the Distt-Mau District for the High School has been approved.

With regards to the finances of the project, Zainabiya Child Sponsorship Scheme has purchased, through its agents the land required for the building at a cost of 600,000 Rupees (approx. £7,300) and the final cost of the ground and first floors of the school is projected at 50 million Rupees (approx. £61,200).

The school will have 16 classrooms over the two floors and this will provide enough facilities for the 300 students that the school currently has. The idea to construct both floors at once is to reduce the costs as it would be financially more expensive to construct them one after the other.

The release of the second £25,000 from the ERSF fund would be very helpful for us as it was proposed for the second phase of the school, but since we have incorporated it with the first, the financial planning also comes into play.

The ground floor is expected to be completed by the end of July 2007 and the first floor
by October 2007. ZCSS is planning to go to India for the opening ceremony of the
school, and on behalf of the entire team, we would like to welcome the trustees of ERSF
to join us.
